AMERICA/CHILE - “The Word of God encourages the missionary Church of today”: National Bible Day 2009

Thursday, 22 October 2009

Santiago de Chile (Agenzia Fides) – Beginning today, October 22, until October 24, the Dominican Institute of Las Condes (Chile) will be hosting National Bible Day 2009, with the theme: “The Word of God encourages the missionary Church of today.” The initiative, which has as its main objective “developing an educational proposal to make the Word of God the source of life in the Church on permanent mission,” is open to all pastoral workers, consecrated and laity, in the diocese, as well as anyone else interested in the topic. A statement issued by the National Commission for Biblical Pastoral Ministry, signed by its President, Auxiliary Bishop Santiago Silva Retamales of Valparaiso, the “educational strategy” that will be adopted will have “four metaphors”: “voice, face, house, street.” The aim is to “reflect on the way to carry out our pastoral ministry,” so that “inspired and led by the Word of God, we are led to Jesus, the fullness of life.”
Other aspects linked to the encounter and the contents of the statement, concern the “receiving and sharing the presence of God in pastoral life and activity amidst a climate of prayer,” “reflecting on Biblical Pastoral Ministry, to enrich our encounter with the Lord...contribute to a climate of fraternity and communion, sharing formative and missionary experiences, which lead to the creation of collaboration networks between the Dioceses and the National Commission.” (GT) (Agenzia Fides 22/10/2009)
