Buenos Aires (Agenzia Fides) - “Let us go to the feast, Jesus awaits us” is the theme of the traditional Archdiocesan Mass for Children, which Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio, Archbishop of Buenos Aires, will celebrate on October 24 in the Mary Teran de Weiss Stadium in Parque Roca. The event, organized by the Children's Ministry Department, comes as the close to a campaign to support children's soup kitchens in the poorer neighborhoods of the capital city.
Children's Ministry recalls that “solidarity is supported through the common good, which is the possibility for everyone to obtain that which improves our lives and our hearts and makes us happy.” Each one, therefore, is asked “to give the best of himself,” aware of the fact that “the basic good of the person consists in being able to eat well.” They also comment that “in our city, many of our children cannot find food in their families, because their parents do not have work.” Thus, “the children's soup kitchens, which our available thanks to the generosity of so many people, work so that our children can receive their daily bread.” This act of solidarity is important because it “helps children to develop a greater awareness of solidarity and unite their faith and their works.” (GT) (Agenzia Fides 21/10/2009)
