Tai Pei (Agenzia Fides) - “Bring your friends to Lin Kou Stadium for the closing ceremony of the 150th Anniversary of the Evangelization of Taiwan, on November 21, Vigil of Christ the King!” This is the appeal launched by Ms. Cheng Lai Yi, President of the National Council of Lay Apostolate, to all the faithful, in preparation for the closing celebrations. “God is Love” is the theme of the concluding celebration, which will be divided into two parts: a Congress on Transmitting Love and the Mass. It is a celebration that focuses on the mission of evangelization that began on the island 150 years ago and the results of 18 months of commemorative celebrations of the Love of God and how to transmit it to others. The important figures in the history of Taiwan's Catholicism will continue being at the focus of the event, as they have been for the last year and a half. As the event's organizer, along with the Archdiocese of Tai Pei, on behalf of the Regional Bishops' Conference of Taiwan, Ms. Cheng invites all the faithful of the island's 7 diocese to participate in the celebration of the closure, encouraging them to bring their friends, especially non-Christian friends, because “we want everyone to meet the Lord and tell them about God...Take advantage of this opportunity that could transform our life and the lives of so many.” (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 10/9/2009)
