Wednesday, 9 September 2009

San Jose (Agenzia Fides) – Since Sunday, September 6, the Archdiocese of San Jose (Costa Rica) has been celebrating a “Week of Prayer for the Sanctification of Priests.” The initiative is part of the Year for Priests declared by the Holy Father Benedict XVI and will conclude the following Sunday, September 13, with Seminary Day. On Thursday, September 10, there will be a Holy Hour held in all the parishes and religious communities of the Archdiocese, for the sanctification of priests. The Vicar for Clergy, Fr. Eliecer Figueroa, recalled that “it is important to present our fervent desires to Jesus in the Eucarist, praying for the sanctification of priests and, with great intensity, the perseverance of those who are already on the path of formation in the seminary.”
Fr. Figueroa also asked for prayers for all families, “that from them may come new vocations to the priesthood and religious life.” During the weekend, in the Masses celebrated in all the parishes, there will be a special collection taken up for the needs of the Seminary.
