Lima (Agenzia Fides) – On Sunday, September 6, at the Cathedral of Lima, the Archbishop of the city, Cardinal Juan Luis Cipriani Thorne, celebrated a Mass at the beginning of the week of celebrations for the 358th anniversary of the “Children's Fraternity of the Lord of the Miracles.”
During his homily, the Archbishop told the hundreds of youth members of the Fraternity to “give thanks to God for the miracle of our own life, which is renewed in every moment” and to maintain “your own personal dialogue with the Lord.” We should not be afraid to be “good children of God” and to “give reasons for our faith,” the Cardinal added, mentioning that the Lord “continues to tell each one of us from the Cross: 'I am here waiting for you. I love you.'” Cardinal Cipriani asked that those present continue to follow the example of the faith and devotion of their family members and to express their fidelity “with good behavior, learning the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and practicing the Sacraments.” The Fraternity, the Archbishop concluded, is “a gift from God to Lima” and which “extends to the rest of the world.”
At the close of the Mass, the members of the Fraternity led a procession with the image of “El Cristo de Pachamamilla.” In honor of the Fraternity's anniversary, September 7-11, at the Lima headquearters, there has been a photo display open to the public. At the conclusion of this week of celebrations, on September 12, at 7pm, there will be a special Mass at Shrine of the Nazarene. (GT) (Agenzia Fides 8/9/2009)
