AFRICA/NIGERIA - Bishop of Port-Harcourt resigns, successor appointed

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) – The Holy Father Benedict XVI, on May 4, 2009, accepted the the renunciation of the pastoral government of the Diocese of Port-Harcourt (Nigeria), presented by Archbishop Alexius Obabu Makozi, in conformity with the Code of Canon Law, canon 401 § 1. The Holy Father appointed Bishop Camillus Archibong Etokudoh, until now Bishop of Ikot-Ekpene, as Bishop of Port-Harcourt (Nigeria). (SL) (Agenzia Fides 4/5/2009)
