AMERICA/BOLIVIA - National meeting for mission directors from the 18 ecclesial jurisdictions: examining the national situation, focus and directives from the Bishops' Conference and the Continental Mission

Tuesday, 16 December 2008

Sorata (Agenzia Fides) – Last week, missions directors from the 18 ecclesial jurisdictions of Bolivia met for their final evaluation meeting of the year. The meetings for the national meetings for missions directors are held twice a year.
Sister Cilenia Rojas, National Missions Coordinator, explained the theme and overview for this national meeting, as well as the steps being taken for the launching of the permanent mission in Bolivia. The objective of this encounter was mainly to evaluate the activities of the year, plan, and reflect on upcoming tasks. The first day was for sharing the work that is taking place in the jurisdictions. The second day was a day for formation that on this occasion evolved in three themes: the national situation, focus and directives from the CEB, and the permanent mission. She explained that “it is important that we observe the situation in our country, in order to evangelize. As for the focus and directives, these are the pillars for our Church and as leaders of the mission, we cannot ignore where the Church wants us to walk...Lastly, the third theme is that of the Permanent Mission, as the national office has presented the plan it has for Bolivia, with its great many challenges.”
The last day was spent in evaluation of the coordination of work on a national level and the response of the national office to the needs of the jurisdictions. “It has been a positive evaluation and we have seen the challenges that invite us to improve our services of formation, coordination, and missionary animation,” Sr. Cilenia said.
As for the Continental Mission, the Church in Bolivia will present it in 2009, however at this time there is already a plan prepared for the Bishops to analyze, in order to later initiate the activities linked to the national launching of the Permanent Mission, which is scheduled to take place on April 26, 2009.
