Managua (Agenzia Fides) – Archbishop Leopoldo Jose Brenes Solorzano of Managua (Nicaragua), during his monthly meeting with the clergy in December, officially presented the document entitled, “Participation and Communion,” which offers the faithful material for missionary activities and tasks to be carried out during the permanent state of mission, in which the Archdiocese of Managua is rigorously working.
“Inspired by the zeal of our priests, laity, and consecrated faithful, with a heart of Father and Pastor of this Archdiocese, and with the power to issue General Executive Decrees, we have seen it necessary to give several directives to that in living, celebrating, and announcing our faith, the various groups, communities, ministries, etc. can all progress according to the teachings and juridical-pastoral guidelines of our Holy Mother Church, both on a universal and local,” the decree of the document's presentation says.
In addition, the Archbishop reflects on the fact that “participation and communion are, among others, extremely important elements in the task of being disciples and missionaries of Jesus Christ in the Church.” He also recalls that “the announcement of the Good News corresponds to all the faithful,” and affirms that there is a general increase in participation among the faithful.
The document is in the spirit of the pastoral guidelines for the diocese, “which demand a creative imagination in facing up to the present challenges of the permanent state of mission and of one evangelizing project.” The Archbishop concludes by expressing his desire to be “a lively, missionary, serving, and united Church.” (RG) (Agenzia Fides 15/12/2008)
