Tuesday, 25 November 2008

San Salvador (Agenzia Fides) – From November 24-27, the city of El Salvador will be hosting the annual meeting of the Secretariat of Bishops of Central America (SEDAC), says a statement sent to Agenzia Fides from Bishop Pedro Hernandez Cantarero, Apostolic Vicar of Darien (Panama). SEDAC includes all the Bishops' Conferences of Central America and Panama. The encounter will be attended by about 50 Bishops. Bishop Cantarero comments: “From this meeting will come the documents that will help us to enter into harmony with all the Bishops of the area, towards a healthy pastoral plan.” In addition, the Bishops also hope to put some of the finishing touches on preparations, so as to launch the Great Continental Mission that was declared to begin in August, during the Third American Missionary Congress (CAM 3). “In this meeting, we will come together to give some common pointers, to know how to place the vital energy of our area at the service of the various countries that form it.” Within this program is also a discussion on several other topics regarding the liturgy and the proper vernacular language for celebrations. The encounter will conclude with a Mass this Thursday in the Cathedral of San Salvador. (RG) (Agenzia Fides 25/11/2008)
