ASIA/TAIWAN - PMS Seminar on “Creative Evangelization,” to renew hope in the Church of Taiwan

Tuesday, 4 November 2008

Tai Pei (Agenzia Fides) – The living rooms become catechism classroom, the parish church hosts the children's choir, mathematics and literature can become instruments of evangelization as well...This is how Catholics in Taiwan have begun giving life to the “Creative Evangelization,” sponsored by the Pontifical Mission Societies of Taiwan, led by Fr. Felice Chech.
Several initiatives came up during the first Creative Evangelization Seminar held by the PMS of Taiwan, meant to renew hope in the Church of Taiwan.
Over a hundred people working in the area of evangelization participated in the Seminar, which was held October 18 and 19. After two days of communion and reflection, the participants could finally “step into their shoes of creativity and walk along the road of evangelization.” Archbishop Hong Shan Chuan, SVD, of Tai Pei said: “In spite of so many initiatives and commitments, there are still over 23 million people in Taiwan who still do not know Christ. Therefore, we cannot reserve evangelization to only inside the churches. We have to take it to every area of society, abandoning the idea of the so-called 'difficult mission.'” During the Seminar, several priests shared their evangelization experiences as a “team,” in perpetual adoration, accompanying the sick in the hospital, among workers in all areas...A 360 degree movement in evangelizing. “This is truly a source of hope for the Church in Taiwan,”Fr. Chech commented with great joy. (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 4/11/2008)
