Mexico City (Agenzia Fides) – Trying to be the best family we can be is always a challenge. How can we achieve this ideal? In search of answers to questions like this one and many others, the country will hold its very first Family Expo at the VI World Meeting of Families. Family Expo is an exposition offering a wide range of tools for those in search of how to improve their family life. The exposition will take place in the same location as the VI Congress on Pastoral Theology, on the theme: “The family, educator in human and Christian values” and which will await the assistance of over 10,000 pilgrims from all the continents of the world.
The option to offer a place for the interchange of goods and services for the family already took place at the V World Meeting of Families in Valencia (Spain). The families who visit the Expo will find everything from healthy economic management for the family to information on groups that work on promoting the family.
During the Family Expo (January 15-17), there will be a complete program of artistic and cultural shows that will allow participants to enjoy a wholesome choice of entertainment for all ages.
Among the various groups present at the Family Expo will be: Family economy “institutions of organizing family and personal finances, insurance companies for various different contingencies and other financial options, etc.); assistance and development (everything from how to improve marital health to the various difficulties in raising children with special needs, adoption support or the development of family projects intended for helping the growth of the entire family); Health and Nutrition (all the information parents could need on this area); Movements and organizations (all associations that work in favor of the family, life, and marriage are invited to be present, so as to expand their work on a national and international level); Education and formation (hopefully there will be institutes of formation for marriage, educating children, school for parents, communication, publishing houses, and courses for growing in the faith, as well as universities and educational centers).
The World Meeting of Families will take place January 13-18 in Mexico City. On January 14-16, there will be a Congress on Pastoral Theology. On Saturday, the 17th, there is a Celebration with Live Testimonies scheduled for the afternoon in the atrium of the Basilica of Guadalupe, for families of all the different continents to share how they live and transmit human and Christian values in different social-cultural contexts. There will also be cultural and artistic events, and the recitation of the Rosary. WMF 2009 will end with a Closing Mass on Sunday, January 18, at 9:30am in which Benedict XVI is expected to give a special message. (RG) (Agenzia Fides 3/11/2008)
