Tuesday, 7 October 2008

Quito (Agenzia Fides) – Following the celebration of the Third American Missionary Congress CAM3, and as part of the program established for making concrete conclusions and the final statement from the Congress, which took place this past August, December 8-12, 2008 Quito will host the Third International Symposium on Missiology: “Mission for Humanity.” According to Osvaldo Fierro, Executive Secretary of CAM 3, the objective of the Symposium is “to gather the missiological vision, spirit, and intuitions from the Third Missionary Congress, in a faithful and creative manner.”
The theme chosen for the encounter “Mission for Humanity,” hopes to present the final statement from the Third American Missionary Congress and share the proposal of the missionary project of the Church in America. Approximately 100 people are expected to participate in this Symposium, including Bishops who serve as heads of Missionary Departments in Bishops’ Conferences, special guests from all over the Americas, and the National Directors of the Pontifical Missionary Societies of the American continents.
