AMERICA/URUGUAY - Family Week, with the theme: “My family: a meeting place.”

Monday, 6 October 2008

Montevideo (Agenzia Fides) – The Bishops’ Conference of Uruguay has been celebrating since yesterday, October 5, Family Week 2008 with the theme: “My family: a meeting place.”
The National Commission for Family Pastoral Care, along with the Vicariate for Catechesis of the Archdiocese of Montevideo, has presented several working documents for use in family environments, which can be found on a new website recently launched by the Bishops’ Conference of Uruguay.
The initiative will last until October 12, and “seeks to provide moments for the family to come together, for spiritual life and daily prayer in the family, in works of charity and more, as well as in the use of these means in announcing the Good News of the family with joy and conviction.” In addition, with the current threats to marriage and the family, the resurgence of various situations of break-up of families, social injustice and even domestic violence, the organizers see Family Week as “a wonderful opportunity to revalue our own family as a place of encounter with the Risen Lord. It is in Him, in whom we find Love and Life in abundance, for all people and families in our country. (RG) (Agenzia Fides 6/10/2008)
