ASIA/INDONESIA - Dengue Alarm: break-bone fever kills 91 people

Rome (Fides Service) - In Indonesia Dengue fever, an insect carried disease, has killed 91 people since the beginning of the year; another 4,500 patients have been hospitalised. The news was announced today by the Indonesian health minister, Sujudi. Many of the dead were in the capital Jakarta, but the worst affected area is Java. Local authorities have ordered insecticides to be used in the capital to eliminate Egyptian flies which spread the disease and disinfection of areas most at risk.
