Wednesday, 10 September 2008

Tai Pei (Agenzia Fides) – Taiwan recently hosted the International Catholic Conference on 150 years of history of the Dominican Mission, as part of its celebration of the 150th anniversary of its evangelization. The Conference, organized by the Dominican Missionary Center, told of the 150-year history of the Dominicans in Taiwan and the contribution of the various Dominican provinces to the Taiwan mission. Some of the provinces included those from the Philippines, Poland, Vietnam, India, Germany, and France. There were also talks on the spirituality of the Dominican Saints that can shed light on the Dominican path, inculturation, and other times. Agenzia Fides will soon publish some excerpts from the Conference, in order to give a general overview of the 150 years of the Dominican mission in Taiwan, which parallels the 150 years of the island’s evangelization.
