ASIA/INDIA - “Let us imitate Saint Paul in the third millennium”: says Archbishop Bernard Moras at the opening of the Year of St Paul

Bangalore (Agenzia Fides) – "The two thousandth anniversary of the birth of St Paul is a time to announce the Good News and proclaim the Gospel to all everyone especially those who have yet to receive the message of Christ" said Archbishop Bernard Moras of Bangalore, as he opened the Year of St Paul in Bangalore Cathedral.
In his homily the Archbishop said: “Pope Benedict XVI describes Paul the ‘Apostle of the nations' a man totally dedicated to serving Christ and promoting harmony and unity among Christians. May Saint Paul lead us in our quest for unity of all the members of the Mystical Body of Christ”.
In Karnataka the local Catholic Church is celebrated 2008 as the Year of the Word of God, a happy coincidence the Archbishop said: “The Year of St Paul is a call to renewal in the Church and in the life of every Christian”, encouraging the faithful to imitate the Apostle on the path of conversion and missionary impulse.
The inauguration of the Year of St Paul in Bangalore was organised by the Pauline Family which includes the sisters, Daughters of St Paul, Pious Disciples of the Divine Master. During the year a film on the Life of St Paul will be shown at Catholic schools and communities in the region. St Paul publishers presented a new edition of the Bible.
