Hong Kong (Agenzia Fides) – Retracing every part of one’s own life in order to enter into a deeper relationship with the Lord, personalizing one’s own mission and pastoral direction: these have been the objectives of a formation meeting for school ministry workers, organized by the Youth Ministry Office in the Diocese of Hong Kong, on the theme: “Take a moment to pause and refresh your soul.” According to the Kong Ko Bao (the Chinese version of the diocesan bulletin), over twenty Catholic teachers and pastoral workers participated in the encounter, which was presided by Father Joseph Chan Wing Chiu, President of the Youth Ministry Commission, and by spiritual director Sr. Lucia Mak, FMM. During the encounter, the participants watched the digital-animation film “Shrek,” which is based on a fairy tale. According to the event’s organizer, the cartoon that tells the story of the close friendship of the ogre Shrek with a talking donkey named Ciuchino and the Princess Fiona, helps to understand the relationship that exists between the pastoral workers and the youth. Thus, the participants in the encounter were asked to reflect on the youth as the talking donkey and the princess and discover the nature and qualities of a pastoral worker in the light of Shrek.
