Hong Kong (Agenzia Fides) - Some 320 youth in Hong Kong participated in the Walk organized to raise funds for youth living in third-world countries, so that they may have the possibility of participating in World Youth Day (WYD) in Sydney. They were able to raise 25,000 Euros. According to a report from Kong Ko Bao (the Chinese version of the diocesan bulletin), the President of the Youth Ministry Committee for the Diocese, the head of the Hong Kong delegation going to WYD, and the spiritual directors who will accompany the youth to Sydney, all joined in walking with the young people. At the end of the walk, having reached the Cathedral, they were greeted by the Bishop of the Diocese. Some of the youth said that, “participating in WYD is a journey and a pilgrimage of life that allows us to re-kindle the flame of faith, of evangelization.” “We can share our experience with other young people,” said one girl. “We have even prepared traditional Chinese gifts for those who will participate.” The Hong Kong delegation that will attend WYD is currently making spiritual preparations for the event with retreats and prayer meetings. The logistic planning is also successfully underway. (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 22/4/2008; righe 15, parole 200)
