ASIA/TAIWAN - “Care for the Environment”: central theme for the Annual Assembly of the Union of Superior Generals of Religious Institutes in Taiwan

Tai Pei (Agenzia Fides) - “Care for the Environment” was the central theme for the 44th Annual Assembly of the Union of Superior Generals of Religious Institutes that took place March 31 to April 3. According to a report from the Christian Life Weekly, the Catholic weekly publication of the Archdiocese of Tai Pei, the Superiors of active religious institutes in Taiwan also discussed the Pauline Year, the 150th anniversary of the Evangelization of Taiwan, the translation of the Pope’s Message for the World Day of Prayer for Vocations, care for elderly priests...In the Assembly, they also elected new members for the Executive Committee. Jesuit Father Louis Gendron is the new President for the masculine branch and Sr. Rosa Chen, FMM, is the new President for the feminine branch. All those present expressed their deep support for the new members of the Committee.
