Seoul (Fides Service) – Catholic and Anglican seminarians in South Korea, students at the Catholic University in Seoul and the Anglican University in Incheon will have regular meetings to experience brotherhood, share impressions, pray together, discuss theology .
The ecumenical programme has been organised by the Commission for Christian Unity and Interreligious Dialogue of the Koran Bishops’ Conference, presided by Bishop Boniface HCoi Ki-san, in collaboration with the National Council of the Anglican Korean Church.
At a recent meeting at Incheon University 50 students, Catholics and Anglicans, listened to a conference on the promotion of unity among Christians followed by a debate and sharing of experience.
“Before the meeting I was somewhat prejudiced against the Anglican Church. Now I realise that we share the same faith and the same aims. I am confident that this experience of communion among young Christians will help us in our preparation for the priesthood”, Catholic seminarian Peter Soh In-seok, told Fides.
“I am truly grateful for this ecumenical opportunity to share experience”, said Gabriel lee Dae-song, an Anglican seminarian.
The Secretary of the Bishops’ Commission for Ecumenism, Father John Bosco Hong Chang. jin voiced his appreciation for the meeting: “up to now our experience of dialogue has been limited to trying to understand each other. Now we must go forward to collaborate at various levels in initiatives and projects”. (PA) (Fides Service 2/12/2003 lines 128 words 253)
