Czestochowa (Agenzia Fides) - In preparation for the Synod on the Word of God to be held in October 2008 in Rome, and on the occasion of the Year of St Paul, Czestochowa based Niedziela Catholic weekly is promoting a " Bible in the Family” initiative giving its readers a free copy of a different New Testament book every month. - "Our intention is to encourage the reading of the Bible in the family" - said editor in chief Ireneusz Skubiś. “We see this as an opportunity to remind Catholic families that the daily reading of the Word of God is the foundation of family life. Moreover on the occasion of Christmas blessing of homes in the parish or pastoral zones, priests can offer the books of the New Testament as a sign of the parish church's closeness to the home, the 'domestic church'."
