EUROPE/POLAND - On the feast of Christ the King, the archdiocese of Czestochowa sends another of its priests on mission to Papua New Guinea

Czestochowa (Agenzia Fides) - On Sunday 25 November, the feast of Christ the King, the archdiocese of Czestochowa, held a mission sending ceremony for one of its priests Fr Michał Pabiańczyk, who is about to depart for mission in Papua New Guinea. The mission sending liturgy was held in the parish of Santa Edvige Queen of Poland at Radomsko. The Mass was presided by metropolitan Archbishop Stanisław Nowak of Czestochowa. Among the concelebrants the diocesan director of the Pontifical Mission Societies, Fr Jacek Gancarek. Present for the occasion, family members, friends, the priests of the archdiocese, religious men and women, members of volunteer youth mission and Pontifical Mission Societies animators from different parishes in the archdiocese of Czestochowa. Before the mass, volunteer youth mission members led the recitation of the Missionary Rosary. At the end of the Mass the Archbishop gave Fr Pabiańczyk a special blessing and the missionary cross, as a sign of love for Christ the Redeemer and a sign of the affection of the local Church of Czestochowa.
“The mission of Fr Michał Pabiańczyk is a mission on the part of our local Church and it promotes a spirit of mission among our young people, in families, in schools and in parishes. Said Fr Jacek Gancarek. The archdiocese of Czestochowa has 13 priests and 3 lay missionaries working in various countries of Africa, Asia and Latin America, Cameroon, Zambia, Argentina, Papua New Guinea, Brazil, Ecuador, Philippines, Tunisia, and in eastern Europe, Belo Russia and Ukraine. This latest sending of a missionary is a joy for the whole local Church, because our priest goes to serve in Papua new Guinea to bear witness to the Gospel of Christ”.
