AFRICA/NIGERIA - Auxiliary of the Apostolic Vicariate of Bomadi appointed

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, on 23 November 2007, appointed Auxiliary of the Apostolic Vicariate of Bomadi (Nigeria) Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Oroko Egbebo, M.S.P., Superior General of the Mission Society of St Paul of Abuja, assigning to him the Titular See of Lacubaza.
Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Oroko Egbebo, M.S.P., was born on 23 October 1955, at Ogriagbene, Bomadi Local Government Area, Niger Delta State, originally part of the diocese of Warri and now part of the Apostolic Vicariate of Bomadi. He entered the Seminary of the Missionaries of St Paul M.S.P. in Iperu in 1982, and the following year moved to the M.S.P Gwagwalada Seminary in Abuja, to study philosophy and theology. He was ordained a priest of the Mission Society of St Paul of Abuja on 23 June 1990. Since then he has ministered as follows: 1990 - 1992: a member of the team of formators at the MSP Minor Seminary at Iperu-Remo (Ddiocese of Ijebu-Ode); 1992 - 1994: higher studies in Ireland; 1995 - 2001: formation director at Iperu-Remo Seminary; 2001 -Superior General of the Mission Society of St Paul (diocesan right, general house archdiocese of Abuja); 2005 - 2006: president of the Conference of Major Superiors of Nigeria.
