Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The life of Bruno Ascoli, a Roman of, “Jewish race” according to the racial laws promulgated by Mussolini in 1938. Ascoli was baptised a month after the racial laws but it was too late. After the arrival of the Germans, in October 1943, Nazis and Fascists came to his house to arrest him. He escaped and was enrolled as an auxiliary of the Palatine Papal Guard of Honour and remained for several months inside the walls of the Vatican.
- A presentation of the genesis and history (from the Roman Empire to Vatican II) of the Greek and Latin languages in Catholic liturgy. Decisive events and important personages in the tradition of the Church of Rome. According to Uwe Michael Lang “Historians indicated that the formation of liturgical Latin was past of a vast effort to Christianise the Roman culture and civilisation.”
- Individual contributions and panel discussions in the Congress promoted by the Fondazione Universitaria San Pablo CEU in Madrid will reflect on the theme “Christianity and secularism: what belongs to God and what belongs to Cesar”, “Truth, tolerance and dialogue”, “the new totalitarisms”, “Protecting the family and life in Europe today”. The opening address will be given by the Foundation's president, Alfredo Dagnino, and the Apostolic Nuncio to Spain, Archbishop Manuel Monteiro de Castro. (C.E.)
