San Ramón de la Nueva Orán (Agenzia Fides) - "It is with great joy that I am pleased to inform you that the Holy Father has announced the confirmation of the date of the beatification, for July 2, 2022 in the city of San Ramón de la Nueva Orán, of the Servants of God, Don Pedro Ortiz de Zárate and Father Juan Antonio Solinas SJ.
The Representative of the Holy Father will be Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints". With these words Monsignor Luis Antonio Scozzina, OFM, Bishop of San Ramón de la Nueva Orán, has announced the news of the date of the Beatification of the “Martyrs of Zenta”, as they are known by the name of the place where the two missionaries they were murdered in hatred of the faith, on October 27, 1683 in the Zenta Valley, together with a group of lay people, including some converted Indians (see Fides, 15/10/2021; 3/1/2022).
"From now on we entrust ourselves to the Martyrs of Zenta so that they guide and protect our pilgrim Church in the north of Salta" concludes the bishop. (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 4/2/2022)
