Thursday, 5 July 2007

Ciudad Guayana (Agenzia Fides) - “Mission, spirituality and identity are the charisma of Salvatorian men and women religious and lay persons ”, says the Salvatorian Mission Association for Latin America started in Spain.
Elements such as charisma and mission represent all their activity and their standard all over the world.
The first Salvatorians came to Venezuela 50 years ago in 1957, from Colombia, anxious to open a new mission in the diocese of Caracas, where they began to build a church.
The Society of the Divine Saviour began its mission in Ciudad Guayana on 4 June 1983, with the arrival of Father Fernando and Father Hipólito, at Vista al Sol district San Felix, where they helped at the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
The Salvatorian web page www.salvatorianos.org/amsala stresses the importance of devoted parishioners who helped the church to develop and improve.
The Salvatorians are mainly involved in assisting the poor of the parish as well as catechesis for adults and children and basic instruction for poor children.
