Tuesday, 14 October 2003

Vatican City (Fides Service) – On Saturday 18 October the eve of World Mission Sunday when Pope John Paul II will beatify Mother Teresa of Calcutta, a prayer vigil with the recitation of the Rosary will take place in the Paul VI Hall in the Vatican organised jointly by the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples and Rome Diocese Vicariate. Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples will lead the Rosary prayer.
Each of the Joyful Mysteries will be meditated as a prayer for one of the world’s five continents: the Annunciation for Africa; the Visitation for America; the Nativity for Europe, the Presentation for Oceania and the Finding in the Temple for Asia. The mysteries will be introduced with a short scripture reading, an excerpt from the post synodal apostolic exhortation for the respective continent, a brief passage from one of Mother Teresa’s writings and special prayer intentions. The last decade for Asia will be accompanied by Asian liturgical dancing. The Prayer Vigil will be accompanied by the Rome Diocese Choir conducted by Mgr Marco Frisina.
