Friday, 16 March 2007

Rome (Fides Service) - The world is on the web and so are the Comboni Missionary Sisters as from today. The community opened its own official web site www.comboniane.org. yesterday 15 March the birthday of the Founder, Saint Daniel Comboni. In an open Letter Superior General Sr. Adele Brambilla explains “Today 15 March 2007, we wish to celebrate the gift of your life in a special way: we are celebrating it with a special present; this intangible gift is a window on the world and the people of the world whom we hope our new web site will help us to reach”.
Daniel Comboni was a man ante litteram who succeeded in making the means of communications indispensable channels for bringing humanity closer to its dreams of God. Having inherited this gift the Comboni Missionary Sisters could not fail to put out to sea on the ocean of the World Wide Web WWW: ‘surfing’ young people seeking the infinite will encounter stories of missionaries, women of the Gospel busy building bridges of dialogue, reconciliation and hope, basic ingredients for constructing the Kingdom of God; ‘surfing’ men and women will discover stories and faces of peoples living in the part of the world purposely ignored by the giants of the media; Comboni’s passion for mission has lost none of its power to draw men and women searching for an ideal old and new, to make Christ the heart of the world.
Besides giving information on the Institute of women religious founded by Daniel Comboni, the web site will be a window on the peoples whose daily life and difficulties, hopes and dreams the Comboni Missionary Sisters share. For the moment the web site only operates in Italian, other languages will follow soon. (S.L.) (Agenzia Fides 16/3/2007; righe 22, parole 305)
