Rome (Agenzia Fides) – This year, the series of three webinars in Vietnamese on the Pope's message for World Mission Day 2025 returns. The series of three online seminars is organized by the National Direction of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) of Vietnam in collaboration with the International Secretariat of the Pontifical Missionary Union.
Father Dinh Anh Nhue Nguyen OFMConv, Secretary General of the Pontifical Missionary Union (PMU), explains that “for several years, it has been a tradition for the PMS family around the world to organize these webinars in various languages, the objective of which is to analyze in depth the Pope's message for World Mission Sunday. Awakening interest and encouraging reading and study of the message is the goal of these online meetings, which seek to focus on the recommendations and teachings offered by the Pontiff, always taking into account all previous messages.”
Structured by geographical area and taking into account the different time zones, this series of online webinars is aimed at all Vietnamese missionaries and faithful, not only in their country of origin, but throughout the world. It begins on August 9 for those in Europe and America (5:00 p.m. Rome time); It continues on August 23 for those in Vietnam and other Asian countries (7:00 p.m., Vietnam time); and on September 13, it will be the turn of those living in Australia and surrounding areas (8:00 p.m., Sydney/Melbourne time).
The webinar, approximately two hours long, includes an introduction to the topic by the PMU Secretary General; a presentation by a speaker from the specific geographical area who will apply the references and considerations of the papal message to the local context; and a time for discussion and reflection among participants.
“This year's message also has a different character because for us it is Pope Francis' legacy on the theme of mission, a kind of missionary testament for the entire Church and for every baptized person,” emphasizes Father Dinh Anh Nhue Nguyen, OFMConv.
“We hope to follow in his footsteps and become a missionary Church. Pope Francis always asked for this, and Pope Leo XIV continues to ask for it, from his first words as Pontiff on the day of his election when he said: ‘We must seek together how to be a missionary Church,’” concludes Father Dinh Anh Nhue Nguyen.
