Maumere (Agenzia Fides) - "Here in Flores everything happens in a fairly calm climate, there is a Christmas atmosphere with decorations and colorful lights that our Muslim friends also admire and are impressed", writes Father Luigi Galvani from the island of Flores. The missionary, a Camillian priest, has been on the island of Flores for more than ten years, which he himself defines as "the little vocational Vatican" due to the flourishing and continuous vocations. "In this Christmas season, our young seminarians are scattered in the different parishes to help in the animation of the Christmas festivities, while we are on the front line, in pastoral service in the hospital and visiting the sick and elderly in the neighborhoods of the parish".
In Indonesia the population is mostly Muslim (90%) and only on the small island of Flores, which has a population of about one and a half million inhabitants, 70% are Catholic. (AP) (Agenzia Fides, 23/12/2023)
