Tabora (Agenzia Fides) - "We thank the good God for His Providence and ask Him to keep us strong and faithful to the mission entrusted to us. May the Holy Spirit continue to guide and enlighten us in everything we plan to achieve in the Archdiocese of Tabora". These were the words that Cardinal Protase Rugambwa shared with Fides Agency after his investiture as Metropolitan Archbishop of Tabora. The celebration was presided over on Sunday, November 19 2023 by Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, Pro Prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization-Section for First Evangelization and the New Particular Churches. "The Holy Father accepted the resignation of my Predecessor, Paul Ruzoka, on November 10, and that same day I succeeded him as the new Metropolitan Archbishop of Tabora" continues the Cardinal (see Fides, 10/11/2023). “I was officially received in Tabora as coadjutor archbishop on 25 June (see Fides, 4/7/2023). Together with the clergy, men and women religious and all the faithful of Tabora, we wanted to organize a special day of gratitude to the outgoing pastor, praying for the success of my apostolate", he added. During the ceremony on Sunday, 19 November, the entire community that took part in this historic event prayed for the symbolic exchange of leadership between Ruzoka and Rugambwa. “We will also count on your prayers” concluded the Archbishop of Tabora. Rugambwa was elevated to the rank of cardinal during the last Consistory held by Pope Francis on September 30 (see Fides, 9/7/2023). (AP) (Agenzia Fides, 20/11/2023)
