Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On April 18, 2023, Cardinal Luis Antonio G. Tagle, Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization, appointed Rev. Father José Orlando Camacho Torres, of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit (CSSP) as National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in Puerto Rico for a five-year period (2023 -2028).
The new National Director was born on August 10, 1963 in San Juan in Puerto Rico. He is of US nationality. He made his religious profession on August 1, 1987 and was ordained a priest on November 28, 1992. He has been assistant parish priest and parish priest in several parishes, member of the diocesan Curia, Executive Secretary of the Episcopal Commission for the missions, Superior of the Spiritans, Director of Caritas and National Director of the PMS from 2006 to 2018.
