ASIA/PHILIPPINES - Appointment of the Apostolic Vicar of Saint Joseph in Mindoro

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Holy Father has appointed Fr. Pablito M. Tagura, S.V.D., currently Rector of the House of Formation, S.V.D., in Quezon City, and Member of the Provincial Council of the Society of the Divine Word as Apostolic Vicar of San Jose in Mindoro (Philippines).
Fr. Pablito M. Tagura, S.V.D., was born on January 15, 1962 in Tagodtod, Lagangilang, Abra, in the Diocese of Bangued. He studied Philosophy at the Divine Word College in Bangued and the Divine Word Seminary in Tagaytay. In 1978 he entered the Society of the Divine Word and continued his theological studies at the Divine Word Seminary, where he obtained a Master of Arts in Philosophy. He professed his Perpetual Vows on May 31, 1988 and was ordained a priest on December 17, 1988 in Abra, Bangued.
He has held the following offices and carried out further studies: Professor at Christ the King Mission Seminary, Quezon City (1989-1991); PhD studies in Philosophy at Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA (1991-1997); professor and treasurer at Christ the King Mission Seminary (1997-1999); dean of studies and professor at the House Council and Christ the King Mission Seminary (1999-2004); dean of studies and professor at Christ the King Mission Seminary (2004-2005); rector, dean of studies and professor at Christ the King Mission Seminary (2005-2014); member of the Provincial Council (2015-2018); Professor of Philosophy, Divine Word College, Epworth, IA, U.S.A. (2017-2020); since 2020, Rector and Dean of Studies at Christ the King Mission Seminary and Member of the Provincial Council of the Society of the Divine Word. (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 17/12/2022)
