AFRICA/GABON - Appointment of Bishop of Franceville, Msgr. Ephrem Ndjoni

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Ephrem Ndjoni of the clergy of Franceville, Gabon, until now parish priest of the Cathedral of Saint Hilaire, as bishop of the same diocese.
Msgr. Ephrem Ndjoni was born on 11 February 1973 in Moanda, diocese of Franceville. He attended the preparatory year in Saint Augustin Major Seminary (1994-1995) and studied philosophy at the Daniel Brottier Seminary of the Spiritan Fathers (1995-1997) and modern letters at the Omar Bongo University of Libreville (1997-1998).
He was ordained a priest on 6 July 2003 for the diocese of Franceville.
After ordination, he first studied at the Pontifical Biblical Institute of Rome (2003-2004), and obtained a licentiate at the Studium Biblicum Franciscanum in Jerusalem (2005-2011) and a doctorate in biblical theology at the Pontifical Urban University (2012-2016). From 2016 to date, he has served as parish priest of the Cathedral of Saint Hilaire in the diocese of Franceville, teacher of sacred scripture at the Saint Augustin Major Seminary of Libreville, coordinator of National Biblical Apostolate, member of the Commission of the Doctrine of the Faith of the Episcopal Conference of Gabon, and representative of the Catholic Church in the Conseil Économique, Social et Environnemental (CESE).
