Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Alain Clément Amiezi of the clergy of Bondoukou, until now parish priest of the Cathédrale Sainte-Odile, as bishop of the diocese of Odienné, Cote d’Ivoire.
Msgr. Alain Clément Amiezi was born on 28 September 1970 in Dimbokro, in the diocese of Bondoukou. In 1991 he entered the Society of African Missions (SMA) in Ebimpé, where he attended courses in philosophy, and at the end of the two-year period he continued his studies in theology at the Sacred Heart of Mary Major Seminary in Anyama.
He was ordained a priest on 1 May 1999.
Following ordination, he first served as deputy priest of the Cathedral and diocesan head of pastoral care of vocations and communications media (1999-2004). He studied at the Pontifical Urban University of Rome from 2004 to 2008, where he was awarded a doctorate in dogmatic theology, and went on to serve as resident professor in dogmatic theology at the Major Seminary of Anyama, and visiting lecturer at the Université Catholique de l’Afrique de l’Ouest (UCAO), also teaching at the Institute of Theology of the Society of Jesus and at the Catholic Missionary Institute of Abidjan (2009-2021). From 2011 he was also executive secretary of the Commission for the Doctrine of the Faith of the Ivorian Episcopal Conference. From 2021 to date, he has served as parish priest of the Cathédrale Sainte-Odile of Bondoukou. (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 30/6/2022)
