Dosso (Agenzia Fides) - "We have the great joy of celebrating 40 years of our parish. In 40 years we have experienced many things, we have celebrated joys, but we have also gone through dark times. That is why we thank God because despite everything we have managed to overcome them and today we can celebrate all this past time with joy and in peace". This is what Alexandre, a parishioner of the Catholic community of Dosso said in reference to the recent celebrations that involved the parish of St. Charles Lwanga. "God has done wonders in our parish - reads the note sent to Agenzia Fides - we realize that St. Charles watches over us, because despite all our shortcomings there is life, there is community and spirit. Today we thank God for everything he offers us and we thank those in charge of the diocese, in particular Monsignor Laurent Lompo, our Archbishop. We remember with gratitude the missionaries who over the years have left us possessions such as the presbytery and this magnificent church where we share our faith, as well as all those who have passed through here and have given part of their lives. It has been a long time since we had a permanent priest and today we are grateful that he lives with us, shares our life and guides us. Today we have the Eucharist every day of the year and we can share with him initiatives, ideas, projects and attention to the poorest and smallest". The elder refers to Fr. Rafael Casamayor, Priest of the Society for African Missions, who moved to Dosso a few months ago (see Fides, 20/12/2021). "We thank Fr. Rafael - writes Alexandre - who accepted to come and live with us, to share our life and our faith. From the moment he visited all the families, he tries to revitalize our groups and accompanies us like a father. (RC/AP) Agenzia Fides, 6/6/2022)
