AFRICA/SUDAN AND SOUTH SUDAN - Appointment of the National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On March 10, 2022, Cardinal Luis Antonio G. Tagle, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed the rev. Santo Gaba Samuel, of the diocesan clergy of Tombura-Yambio as National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in Sudan and South Sudan for a five-year period (2022-2027).
The new National Director was born on November 24, 1968. He studied philosophy and theology at St. Paul's major Seminary in Khartoum. He was ordained a priest, also in Khartoum, on June 22, 2000. He then graduated in Missiology at the Pontifical Urbaniana University in Rome. After his ordination he carried out his pastoral ministry in Khartoum and Yambio. Since 2015 he has been Deputy Secretary General of the Bishops' Conference; Visiting professor at the Catholic University of South Sudan; Lecturer at St. Paul's major Seminary.
