Friday, 8 April 2022 missionary institutes

Rome (Agenzia Fides) - The Thouret Foundation, an organization inspired by the charism and missionary tradition of the Sisters of Charity of Saint Joan Antida Thouret, founded in Besançon, France, on April 11, 1799, celebrates its first 10 years of work in the different peripheries of the world, on 4 continents.
Service is carried out in places ravaged by the horrors of war, such as Syria and the Central African Republic. The path of listening and social inclusion aimed at children and young people in Albania. The day center for the disabled in Thailand. Training in the cultivation of corn, rice and vegetables in the diocese of Sintang, Indonesia. Accommodation with a music workshop for Vietnamese students. And again, the reconstruction of school buildings, such as the one in Shahdara in Pakistan, damaged by the floods, or the Saint Anna school in Beirut, Lebanon, hit by the devastating explosion on August 4, 2020. Support for the Covid emergency in Italy. And finally, the “Jeanne Antide” Center in Sarh, Chad, chosen as the symbolic project of the Foundation's tenth anniversary: a house where girls in vulnerable conditions have the opportunity to complete their studies and find work.
"In these 10 years - declares the President of the Thouret Foundation, Sister Maria Rosa Muscarella, in the note sent to Fides - the interventions we have launched in over 30 countries on 4 continents, especially in the social and educational fields, have guaranteed the right to education to many children and young people, making them the real protagonists of their future, men and women able to be decisive also in the political choices regarding the near future. The approach we have adopted places the woman at the center, because she is the engine of everything and the soul of the family".
There will not just be a single celebratory event for this tenth anniversary, which begins on April 11, 2022, but there will be many moments of encounter. Among the initiatives, on Saturday, May 28, a show created by the children of the Regina Coeli Comprehensive Institute in Naples and a photographic exhibition set up in the Cloister of the Monastery (in Vico San Gaudioso) will take place to tell everyone a story of hope and the future. It will be possible to follow all the appointments through the official hashtag #10yearsforcharity, which will also offer a constant update on the progress of the project in Chad.
