Rome (Agenzia Fides) - On Friday April 1st, a delegation of 200 people and members of various Italian civil society organizations will leave for a non-violent peace initiative in Ukraine. The convoy, which consists of 50 vehicles, will provide the population with the essentials. The destination is Lviv, where participants will meet with civil society organizations and religious and civil authorities. On the way back, the convoy will take people who want to leave their war-torn country and take them to Italy. "We will enter Ukrainian territory to express the desire for peace with our presence on the ground", said the statement of the Pope John XXIII Community. "We have always stood by victims with humanitarian actions and international solidarity initiatives. Each of us can do something. We do not want to remain just spectators and we feel obliged to expose ourselves in first person". To date, a total of 89 organizations have joined the "Stop the War Now" peace initiative.
