The ceremony of episcopal consecration, which was supposed to take place in May 2021, had to be postponed due to the long rehabilitation therapy that the Comboni Missionary had to go through. Today's episcopal ordination is therefore a kind of personal rebirth and a new beginning for the diocese and for the entire Catholic Church of South Sudan, which was severely affected by this tragic event.
On the sidelines of a meeting with the Pope on the eve of the episcopal ordination, on March 14, 2022, Bishop Carlassare, the youngest Italian bishop (44 years old), told Fides: "I start again with calm and confidence.
