Vatican (Agenzia Fides) - In 1965 the Pontifical Society of the Holy Childhood (POSI) was officially founded in Korea and has been operating at full capacity since 1987, giving life to an ever more dynamic and growing reality, described in the Bulletin of the POSI which is being distributed these days and which can be downloaded from the website of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS).
"Pilgrimage of Missionary Children" is the group founded by the Korean PMS Direction to carry out missionary experiences, pilgrimages on foot, voluntary work and activities related to initiatives such as the Song of the Three Kings. Among the experiences offered to young Koreans is an annual summer camp, which represents an important moment of formation and awareness of the mission. Very profound testimonies were collected on how belonging to POSI brought them to know other cultures and instilled in them the desire and the will to help children in need. Even though the pandemic has limited the number of meetings in the presence of the children, they have received various materials, including the bulletin "Gyohwangcheong Cumnamoo" (The Pope's children) and an ecological bag with a letter to ensure that the link with the Society is not lost and that they can also talk about it to their peers.
As protagonist of all the material offered to children this year, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the elevation of the Holy Childhood Society to Pontifical status, the Korean Direction of PMS has created a testimonial character, the little lamb "HAYANG-E" which means "pure and innocent lamb loved by God" in order to sensitize children to POSI and to increase their interest in missionary activity.
The celebrations of 2022 (see Fides, 21/10/2021) are at the center of the bulletin that has just been published, starting with the editorial by Sr. Roberta Tremarelli, Secretary General of the Pontifical Society of the Holy Childhood, who writes: "We give thanks to the Lord for how much the Pontifical Mission Societies have been able to carry out in favor of evangelization and missions over the years, with the collaboration of many Christians and in particular with the contribution of so many children and young people who, in all parts of the world have allowed themselves to be involved by the example of Jesus and by the fact that he made himself brother to everyone". "Epiphany, time for sharing" is the title of the cover and the main theme, treated by Efrain Salazar Colmenarez, of the Archdiocese of Bucaramanga (Colombia), and also taken up in the contribution "May the light of the child Jesus shine on our children in Laos and Cambodia" by Father Paul Chatsirey Roeung, National Director of the PMS of Laos and Cambodia. Finally, among the other topics addressed in the Bulletin, let us mention: the voice of the children of the national leaderships of Paraguay, Poland, India, Chile; news from the dioceses: Chad, Indonesia, Niger, Mozambique, Benin, Syria, Guinea Bissau; between the lines ... projects: the "street" pastoral office and helping children learn to live together and bear witness to Christ among their peers.
