Caracas (Agenzia Fides) - Pauline Jaricot, her life and her testimony have been the common thread of the animation of the National Day of Missionary Childhood and Adolescence (JONIAM) 2022 promoted and organized by the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in Venezuela through of Missionary Childhood and in the various dioceses of the country. Thousands of children and adolescents last weekend celebrated this day with activities developed from the material prepared at the national level, and adapted to the conditions of each region of the country. The main objective was to deepen spirituality and the missionary sense in the light of the testimony of Pauline Jaricot, foundress of the Pontifical Society for the Propagation of the Faith, who will soon be beatified (on May 22 in Lyon). In addition, the story of Pauline Jaricot was told as well as her concern for the evangelization of peoples, her intuition to bring Christians together to pray and collaborate for the missionary needs of the world and the subsequent creation of the first missionary "social network". "We did games and activities with the motto 'Like Pauline Jaricot, we are witnesses of Jesus in the mission', which allowed us to get to know the foundress", says Tomás Lares, 8, from the diocese of Cabimas.
"We used a motto, based on the life of Pauline Jaricot, and inspired by the biblical quote Acts 1,8, «but you will receive the power of the Holy Spirit, which will come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth».
This has sensitized children and adolescents in a simple and effective way", comments Efrén Chirinos, National Representative of Missionary Childhood in Venezuela, explaining how the Day was the result of preparation throughout the month of January. "During the past month, the Missionary Childhood groups carried out Spirituality activities, such as the Spark of Love (Eucharistic Adoration), Living Missionary Rosary, Eucharistic Celebrations and recreational and cultural activities - explained Efrén Chirinos - . The Day concluded this journey by making missionary cooperation visible in its three dimensions: with prayer, with financial support and with the consecration and renewal of missionary commitments".
