AMERICA/COLOMBIA - Military bishop gives police authority 500 Bibles

Bogota (Agenzia Fides) - The military bishop of Colombia, Víctor Ochoa Cadavid, who is responsible for the pastoral and spiritual accompaniment of men and women at the service of public authority, delivered more than 500 Bibles to members of the public institution on August 10th.
The prelate pointed out that with this gift he wanted to support the religious officials when it came to living and acting "with respect for religious freedom, but also with respect for the judicial authorities". The commitment to religious freedom accompanies the actions of believers", he said.
He also affirmed that for many of these officials the Word of God is an important source in their lives, inspiring great ethical and human values. "For the state police, the word of God is an encouragement and part of their great institutional values, with the great motto that inspires us: the commitment to God and
Homeland".
The solemn donation ceremony took place at the headquarters of the General Directorate of the State Police in the presence of General Jorge Luis Vargas Valencia, Chief of Police, several generals, officers, NCOs and civilian employees. (CE) (Agenzia Fides, 12/8/2021)
