Tombura Yambio (Agenzia Fides) - "It is urgent to bring to light what has happened over the years between the communities of Zande and Balanda which has created inequality, fear, interest, injustice and lack of the rule of law in Tombura".
This is the appeal that the citizens of Yambio addressed to the local authorities in addition to the invitation of local religious leaders to stop the conflict, defined as 'senseless', which is underway in the state of Western Equatorial, Tombura county. “Stop the conflict and pave the way for dialogue and reconciliation - write the religious leaders who exhort the ruling authorities to be responsible before God and men. "Be honest before the people of God. Pray that love, peace and unity reign in the hearts of all of us", reads the statement sent to Agenzia Fides. Religious leaders also urged the national government and that of the Western Equatorial state to fulfill their obligation to protect and defend, without distinction, the civilian population from internal and external aggression. In addition, they called on stakeholders, the international community and people of good will to contribute to the return of peace and normalcy in Tombura. Attention is firmly on the humanitarian and emergency situation that has arisen as a result of the conflict between the two ethnic groups.
The joint appeal to desist from the current clashes, and addressed to all the inhabitants of Greater Tombura, residing in Tombura and elsewhere, was signed by the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio, Mgr. Barani Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala, together with the Archbishop of the Episcopal Church of the State Province, Samuel Enosa Peni, the Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Peter Anibati Abia, and the Bishop of the Evangelical Episcopal Church of Communion Yepeta Natana Sika.
