Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On 1 January 2021, the Prefect of the Congregation for Catholic Education, Cardinal Giuseppe Versaldi, confirmed Prof. Fr. Leonardo Sileo, OFM, as Rector of the Pontifical Urbaniana University for the next three years, thereby approving his election by the Academic Senate of the University.
The Grand Chancellor of the University and Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, Cardinal Luis Antonio Gokim Tagle, who announced this appointment to Prof. Sileo, thanked the Rector for his work during the first term, which was also affected by the effects of the pandemic and the reorganization of teaching in the manner provided for by the anti-contagion measures.
Prof. Sileo began his work as a lecturer in 1986 at the Faculty of Theology of the Pontifical Athenaeum Antonianum, and then at the Urbaniana since 1998, where he became Full Professor of the Faculty of Philosophy at the chair of the History of Medieval Philosophy in 2013.
He was the director of the publishing house of the University “Urbaniana University Press” and took over the process of self-assessment and quality implementation of the university according to the criteria of the Bologna process.
