Santo Domingo (Agenzia Fides) - The initiative "Un paso por mi Familia" organized by the Catholic Church in the Dominican Republic invite you to take part in the initiatives that protect life and promote the family. Since 2012, the National Commission for the Family (CNF) has been organizing a march in which a series of activities aim to raise awareness of family values and the need to work for the stability of the family in the Dominican Republic (see Fides, 23/11/2019).
The initiative, in which tens of thousands of lay and religious people take part every year, is organized by each diocese for its own territory. The motto of this campaign is "With Christ, defending life" (Con Cristo, Defendiendo La Vida").
Due to the restrictions put in place by the government to prevent the spread of Covid-19, this year the program mainly includes virtual initiatives. The prescribed safety protocols apply to the few rallies that are planned for the presence of participants on site. Such a rally is planned for November 17th at the Quisqueya Stadium. On November 18, everyone is invited to take part in the “Virtual Rosary for the Family” at 8pm. A virtual discussion on family issues is planned for November 19. On November 20 at 8 pm a concert will be offered with the participation of Catholic artists.
On Saturday 21 November, a "Mass for the family" will be presided over by the Archbishop of Santo Domingo, Mgr. Francisco Ozoria, accompanied by the auxiliary Bishops and priests. On Sunday 22 November, Holy Masses will be celebrated and a march will be held, in accordance with the security protocol.
All activities will be broadcast on the Facebook page and on the YouTube channel of "Un paso por mi Familia" as well as through the media of the Episcopal Commission for Family and Life and by the Catholic television and radio stations TeleVida and VidaFM. (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 5/11/2020)
