AMERICA/PERU - “Young people! arise, listen, nourished with the Eucharist set out to walk with Jesus”: 4,000 young people attend 1st Congress for family catechesis animators

Lima (Fides Service) - Some 4,000 young people from all over Peru are attending the 1st Congress for family catechesis animators 23 to 26 February at the Salesian School in Brena, Lima capital of Peru. The slogan of the congress is “Young people! arise, listen, nourished with the Eucharist set out to walk with Jesus”. The objectives include: promote awareness of the necessity of the mission of family catechesis animators and give new impulse to their mission as bridges of communication between generations; build paths of communion starting with the family and help people families celebrate the Eucharist as the source and summit of Christian life.
During the meeting some animators will speak of their efforts to “build communication in families and among families”, to promote family values and conditions for life of dignity. The programme includes formation conferences by experts and a chance for participants to share experience with interesting testimonials to make the mission of these young family catechesis animators more widely known.
The Congress will be opened by the Archbishop of Lima Cardinal Juan Luis Cipriani. Speakers will include Bishop Alberto Campos of the Apostolic Vicariate of San José del Amazonas on Friday 24, theme “Young people arise and listen”; Bishop Angelo Francisco Simón Piorno of Chimbote diocese Peru, theme “Nourished by the Eucharist” and Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, Archbishop of Genoa (Italy) on Sunday 26 February, theme “Set out to Walk with Jesus”.
