Wednesday, 8 February 2006

Buenos Aires (Fides Service) - “For the National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies this meeting was the realisation of a dream to insert young people in the missionary service of the Pontifical Society of the Propagation of the Faith" Fr. Jairo Calderón Benavides, Director National of PMS in Argentina, commenting the 2nd meeting for national directors of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay held 3 to 5 February at the PMS offices in Buenos Aires.
The meeting was for young people will missionary experience and the theme was “Missionary Youth. In testimonials in missionary work and experience it emerged that since the 3rd meeting of young missionaries (III ENAJOMIS) in Venezuela in 2004, young missionaries in these countries have intensified their service of missionary animation and formation. Each country has its own youth pastoral plan however more attention needs to be given to missionary formation and commitment.
The meeting reached the following conclusions: the young people are more aware of their missionary charisma and duty, in particular ad gentes; it is necessary to promote the figure of Pauline Jaricot, foundress of the Pontifical Society for the Propagation of the Faith as an example to follow and to bring new impulse and missionary spirit to ordinary pastoral; young missionaries must fill other young people with mission spirit; young people will elaborated mission hand books for missionary formation of other young people; young missionaries assume the methods of the four aspects promoted by Holy Childhood Mission Society: missionary Catechesis, missionary Spirituality, mission outreach and mission communion.
