Tuesday, 3 September 2019

Mexico City (Agenzia Fides) - "Reviving the missionary conscience, reaching the environments in which the Church is not present, making it effective for the announcement of Jesus Christ, remembering that we live in a permanent state of mission, because we have been baptized and sent, are the objectives of 'Megamisión' set for the Extraordinary Missionary Month", said Father Manuel Padilla, director of the Megamisión and of the Youth Pastoral of the Archdiocese of Mexico City, in an interview with Agenzia Fides.
"Megamisión is our response to Pope Francis’ appeal for the next Extraordinary Missionary Month. Cardinal Carlos Aguiar, Archbishop of Mexico City, invited the faithful to participate in the activities of the Archdiocese to promote solidarity in communion, share experiences and overcome indifference. Seventy-two hours of mission to reach the cities of the capital where the presence of God is most urgent", said Fr. Padilla.
"Poverty, health, ecology, human rights are some of the sectors in which we will all be involved to make improvements and initiate processes of personal healing and the social fabric of our city with specific activities".
"Young people, movements, the archdiocesan network, consecrated life, social organizations, we invite everyone through a call, we form people and then action comes", said the priest.
"We are talking about 72 hours of mission, three days like the Holy Trinity, articulated with individual initiatives in the various sectors on October 25, visits to the places and institutions in charge of carrying out actions in the various environments on 26 and finally on 27 October, the Megarally and closing of the Megamisión with a mass in the Cathedral". Father Padilla concludes by inviting: "¡Todos a la misión!"(PM/AP) (Agenzia Fides, 3/9/2019)
