AFRICA/BURKINA FASO - Bishop of Kaya resigns, successor appointed

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) – The Holy Father, Pope Francis accepted the renunciation of the pastoral government of the diocese of Kaya (Burkina Faso), presented by Bishop Thomas Kaboré. The Holy Father appointed Bishop of Kaya, Théophile Nare of the clergy of Koupéla, former rector of the Major Inter-diocesan St. Pierre Claver Seminary in Koumi (Bobo-Dioulasso).
Rev. Théophile Nare was born 7 July 1966 in Yargo, Archdiocese of Koupéla, he studied philosophy and theology in his home country respectively at the Major Inter-diocesan Seminary of St Jean Baptiste of Wayalghin (Ouagadougou), and the Major Inter-diocesan Seminary St Pierre Claver in Koumi (Bobo-Dioulasso). He was ordained a priest on 8 July 1995. He then obtained a Licence in Holy Scripture at the Biblicum (Rome) and at the École Biblique of Jerusalem, and a certificate in Formation for Educators of the Clergy (Institut de formation pour éducateurs du Clergé à Paris) IFEC).
Since his ordination he served as follows: 1995-2000 Parish Vicar of Koupéla Cathedral; 2000-2005 Studies in Rome, Jerusalem and Paris; 2005-2006 parish administrator of Koupéla Cathedral ; 2006-2011 Docent of Exegesis at St Jean Baptiste major theological seminary in Wayalghin; 2011-2018 Rector and Docent of Exegesis at St Pierre Claver Major Theological Seminary of Koumi (Bobo-Dioulasso).
